With rain forecast for match day the chance of getting a game in against a new local rival, the Battersea Eagles, looked in terminal decline. However with a pitch some what oddly booked in Croydon for two Battersea teams all felt it was worth a go and off we went to Wallington.

The oppo were slightly hampered by being a few short at the start, a spicy pitch and some even spicier Badger bowling. An impressive 9 bowlers were used on the way to bowling out the Eagles for 96 with Cade nicking four after they were softened up by Foord, Hamblin and Mackrell.

Batting wise there were some mild concerns following the collapse(s) against Arkley but Cloke, Barker and Thomas steered us through to a nine wicket win. Barker benefitting from a Cloke coaching session which entailed purely being told to stop batting like an idiot (it worked).

So, a game was had- but wait, it was early and the rain was stopping! A 15 over game was agreed to and off we went again eventually ending with a Badger win by 19 runs. I didn’t wear a box when batting and promptly got hit twice in the gentleman’s area of danger.
