In a high-scoring game, the Badgers were resoundingly beaten by first-time opponents Old Rutlishians. A total of 243/8 and a century for debutant Ben Cornish put the Badgers in a strong position at tea. However, that total proved woefully short, as the Badger bowlers were put to the sword. Rutlishians cantered to a win with 16 overs to spare – one of their opening batsmen finishing on 147 not out.

The Badgers were left to reflect on that familiar maxim: Don’t play any team with ‘Old’ in their name. They’ll almost certainly be too good.
